Vets
Tim Miller MRCVS
Tim Miller qualified in 1986 from Edinburgh University. After 5 years in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps, where his service included Cyprus and Northern Ireland, he went into mixed practice in Cheshire. After another 4 years in a variety of practices in Chester, Motherwell and the Scottish Borders he bought the Rawlinson Street practice in 1996.
Tim is interested in all aspects of small animal practice and is dedicated to the highest standards of client and patient care.
Outside work his time is divided between family, farming and fell running - both competitive and coaching junior runners. He has now qualified as a Fell and Mountain Running coach.
Cali Turner MRCVS
Cali grew up in Lanarkshire and qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from the University of Glasgow in 1988. She began her working career in a mixed practice in Lincolnshire and enjoyed varied experiences, working with farm animals, racehorses, hunting horses as well as llamas and pet animals. She stayed there for 7 years and gradually enhanced the pet animal work in that practice.
The hills of home were always an attraction and missing these, she moved northwards to Cumbria and spent a further 10 years in mixed practice dealing with a wide range of animal patients. She came to realise that her main interest laid in the small animal side of the work and in order to maximise this element and spend more time with her family she moved to Grove Veterinary Centre in 2005.
She is married and has 3 children. She has a variety of pets as well as the occasional hedgehog which needs a home in her garden. She enjoys reading, walking, gardening and horse riding, that is when she is not working or being a taxi for her children!
Miranda Hall MRCVS
Miranda joined the practice in April 2009, having qualified from the
Kate Gundry MRCVS
Kate graduated from Glasgow University in 2009 after previously completing a Chemistry degree at the University of York.
After 18 months gaining experience in mixed practices in Lancashire and at the PDSA, Kate joined Grove Vets in March 2011. She enjoys all aspects of small animal practice and when not working she spends her time fell walking, mountain biking and travelling. She married in June 2011.
Nursing Staff
Elizabeth Dempster RVN
Elizabeth is a Registered Veterinary Nurse and has been with the practice since 1998. She is responsible for the day to day running of the nursing team, in-house training and generally making sure that the "behind-the-scenes" runs smoothly.
Elizabeth also runs nurse clinics for minor procedures, weight-control and hydrotherapy. She is responsible for the coordination of Veterinary Nurse training in the practice and liaising with Myerscough College, our training provider. Elizabeth is a working mum and when she is not at work divides her time between her family, her parents' farm and her own horses and dogs.
Elizabeth's second child was born inJanuary 2011 and she returned from maternity leave in October 2011.
Claire Harney RVN
Claire joined the practice in 1998 on leaving school. She qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2003. Her duties in the practice include assisting in theatre and with radiography, as well as running nurse clinics. She is a qualified mentor for veterinary nurses and is very involved with this aspect of the work of the practice. Claire is interested in the relationship between clients and their pets. She is the proud mother of two sons. She has two cats at home and enjoys socialising when she is not busy with family activities.
Dawn Walker RVN
Dawn joined the practice in 2003 as a trainee Veterinary Nurse. She completed her training and became a Registered Veterinary Nurse in August 2006. Her ambition is to pursue her interest in animal psychology. When not at work Dawn enjoys a lively circle of friends, and at home she has a dog, who is always very appreciative of all the attention she can give him.
Geraldine Treen RVN
Geri's responsibilities include clinical coaching for the trainee nurses in the practice and maintenance of our inhouse laboratory. She has two cats at home and enjoys swimming and the gym in her spare time. She is expecting her first child in March 2012 and has now started her maternity leave.
Sarah Shields RVN
Sarah joined the practice in August 2006, She passed her final nursing exams in October 2011. She has a staffordshire bull terrier named Phea and loves skiing holidays and baking.
Kelly Atkinson RVN
Kelly joined the practice as a trainee veterinary nurse in June 2007. She had previously gained a National Diploma in Animal Management at Lancaster and Morecambe college, and a foundation degree in Animal Welfare and Veterinary Nursing at Myerscough college. She is currently enjoying a rest from studying having passed her final nursing examinations at the end of 2011. When not at work Kelly enjoys socialising. She is engaged to be married in May 2013. Kelly takes an interest in the fortunes of Liverpool football club and has an aquarium at home.
Lauren Milby
Lauren joined the practice in December 2009 having left Dowdales school that year. She started her nurse training in September 2010 and is currently in her second year of college. When not at work or college Lauren enjoys spending time ith her friends and working out at the gym. Lauren has now joined the full on call rata at the surgery as will be covering nights and weekends.
She has recently completed her first year nursing exams and can now concentrate on her second year work. We are looking forward to her qualifying as a veterinary nurse later this year.

Nicola Sanderson RVN
Administration Staff
June Daley
June is our practice manager, responsible for the smooth running of the administration in the surgery. She joined the practice in April 2008 but had previously worked here for 18 years when the practice was owned by Howard Bradley. Life at home is quite busy as she has a 6 month old Cavalier King Charles spaniel, a budgie and an active granddaughter to look after. She also likes to spend time with her family and enjoys walking and craft activities. Her youngest grandchild is now 15 months old. He and his half sister live in Kent so whenever possible June spends weekends there.
